Pair Killed in Santa Ana House Fire Are Identified

Share

The Orange County coroner Thursday identified the two victims of a fire that raged through a cluttered Santa Ana home early Wednesday as William Timothy Mauldin II, 31, and Sharon Lynne Barton, 40.

Mauldin, who lived in the ranch-style home on the 1000 block of South Elliott Place, was reportedly the grandson of Bill Mauldin, a Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist who gained fame during World War II drawing editorial cartoons about two fictional GIs named Willie and Joe.

The bodies of the younger Mauldin and Barton, whom family members said he met a few weeks ago, were discovered in a bedroom of the home following the 3 a.m. blaze.
