Visitors to San Francisco have a new lodging option downtown: the Orchard Hotel at 665 Bush St., about two blocks from Union Square. Billed as a boutique hotel, it’s operated by Chicago-based Coastal Hotel Group, which runs the upscale Bitter End Yacht Club in the British Virgin Islands, among other properties.

The hotel, in a new 10-story building, opened about 60 of its planned 105 rooms last week, said general manager Sharon Tripp. The rest are to open by Dec. 1, she added. Room rates, including continental breakfast, start at $259 per night. Rooms feature double-paned glass for quiet and 27-inch TVs. Also on site: the “V” restaurant, serving what it’s calling “contemporary American” food. Tel. (888) 717-2881.
