The Yorba Linda Library this month will present an exhibit about writing materials spanning the last five millenniums.

Five Millenniums of Writing History, on exhibit through Dec. 1, features a cuneiform tablet dating from 3000-2001 BC, an Egyptian hieroglyph from 2000-1001 BC, a bronze Chinese knife coin and a fragmented papyrus letter.

The five items come from a privately owned collection of about 200 items depicting the history of written human communication. The most valuable piece in the collection is said to be an artifact from biblical times--a clay jar handle with a seal impression mentioning a king of Judah. The rarest piece in the exhibit is a misprinted book leaf from the 16th century.
