The election is over, for local races anyway, and it’s time to remove the hundreds of campaign signs scattered throughout the city.

MG Disposal has donated a large trash bin to collect and dispose of the colorful placards, most of which will be recycled. The 20-by-8-foot bin, at the Hub Cafe at 124 E. Commonwealth Ave., was delivered Wednesday and will be kept there through Saturday, said Mark McGee, vice president of Orange County operations for the company.

Councilman Chris Norby, who was reelected Tuesday to another term, said the donated trash bin will make it easier for candidates to properly dispose of their signs.

“They ought to come down,” he said, “including mine.”
