Son to Stand Trial in Stabbing Death of Mother
A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has ruled that an Alhambra man accused of stabbing his mother to death with a fork, a knife and a pair of scissors must stand trial on a murder charge.
Judge David Horowitz said this week that there is sufficient evidence for the case against Andrew Kagetora Akimoto, 30, to proceed.
Akimoto is charged in the March 25, 1999, death of Jolene Marie Akimoto, 50, at the family home on Hagen Drive.
Detectives said the motive in the slaying has not been determined, but the suspect is believed to have severe emotional problems.
