All’s Well in Wellington

The article on Wellington, New Zealand (“New Zealand’s Rising Star,” Oct. 22), brought back many memories. My husband and I lived in Wellington in 1987. The city then was nothing more than a charming village, reminiscent of one of those Merchant Ivory films. From your pictures, it seems that Wellington hasn’t changed much, except for a smattering of newer buildings. I wouldn’t have it any other way. One thing you failed to mention was the ferry ride to nearby Marlborough.
I think more people should visit Wellington and not confine themselves to the heavily promoted Auckland, which is almost like a small Sydney, Australia.
