Chicago Man Sentenced for Vandalizing Store

A 23-year-old Chicago man was sentenced Tuesday to 16 months in state prison for vandalizing a downtown jewelry store during the Democratic National Convention in August.

Aaron Copley pleaded no contest. Because of Copley’s prior criminal record, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Elizabeth A. Grimes sentenced him to state prison, said Moira Curry, deputy district attorney. Copley has been convicted of felony vandalism, aggravated sexual assault and has a pending charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor in Illinois, Curry said.
