Stitches From the Heart needs volunteers to knit or crochet hats, booties and blankets for premature babies and babies in need, to be donated to hospitals all over the country. Patterns are available. Information: Kathy Silverton, (310) 472-6903.

* Child Advocates Office of Los Angeles Superior Court needs volunteers, appointed by the Dependency Court, to advocate for children who have been removed from homes due to abuse, neglect or abandonment. Volunteers, who must be 25 or older, will evaluate circumstances, investigate resources and make recommendation to the court. * Southwest Chamber Music in Pasadena needs volunteers to usher at monthly Tuesday evening concerts at the Colburn School of Performing Arts in downtown Los Angeles, and provide the public with information about the concerts and the group. Information: Inka Bujalska, (626) 685-4455.

* German Shepherd Rescue in Burbank needs volunteers to transport dogs to a veterinarian to be spayed and neutered, and to walk and bathe dogs. Information: Linda Rosenblum, (818) 980-0458.

* 69th annual Hollywood Christmas Parade needs more than 200 volunteers age 21 and older to assist celebrities onto flats, work in the grandstands, conduct traffic flow and other duties for the parade to be held Nov. 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. Volunteers will receive gifts and be thrown a party in January. A one-hour orientation will be held Nov. 25, and volunteers will be required to work six to eight hours on parade day. Information: (323) 469-2337.

* Public Counsel Law Center, a nonprofit law firm in Los Angeles, needs administrative support volunteers to assist with law projects. Knowledge of legal research, MS Word and Spanish and English skills are preferred but not mandatory. Retired legal or social work professionals are especially needed.
