Seabees Conduct Training Exercises

The Navy’s Construction Battalion Corps is staging tactical combat exercises for hundreds of its members this week to help them prepare for future assignments.

Every seven months the battalion deploys to a new location around the world, said Petty Officer 1st Class James Pinsky. While at their home base, the troops participate in two weeklong exercises covering such areas as navigation, communication, first aid and protection against chemical warfare.

“It’s all one big training exercise,” Pinsky said. “We’re not getting ready for any special type of thing.”

The battalion members went through the exercises in full combat gear and face paint. In May the battalion ships off to Okinawa, Japan.
