Toy, Food Drive for Navajo Indians
Two county groups promoting awareness of Native American cultures are holding a drive to collect Christmas toys and canned food for families on the Navajo reservation in Saile, Ariz., 80 miles north of Flagstaff.
The California Indian Council in Thousand Oaks and Redbird in Simi Valley are sponsoring the drive, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 2 at 1222 Potter Ave. in Thousand Oaks.
Participants are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy or canned foods. The event will also include a barbecue, potluck, music and crafts.
