California, U.S. Gasoline Prices Recede

California motorists are paying 2.5 cents less per gallon for self-serve regular gasoline than they did a week ago, with the average price per gallon falling to $1.752 on Monday from $1.777 the previous Monday, the Energy Information Administration said. The price in California has been declining for 11 weeks from this year’s record-setting average price of $1.85 a gallon. Nationwide, the retail average for regular self-serve fell 1.3 cents per gallon to $1.51 a gallon, based on a weekly survey of 800 service stations. A year ago, California’s average price was 39 cents lower and the U.S. average was 24 cents lower.
