Clarence F. Pease; Retired Insurance Executive

Clarence F. “Skip” Pease, a retired insurance company executive, died Friday at his home in Camarillo. He was 77.

He was born Oct. 25, 1923, in San Bernardino.

During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps and flew 17 combat missions in the European theater.

After the war, he began a 42-year career with Prudential Insurance Co. as a salesman and culminating as senior vice president and chief operating officer of U.S., Canadian and European operations.

Pease received an associate’s degree from Pierce College and a master’s degree from the University of Houston.

In 1988 he retired and moved to Camarillo, where he was director and chairman of the Economic Development Committee of the Camarillo Chamber of Commerce, a director of the Camarillo Noontime Rotary Club and the chairman of its scholarship program, member of the Community Advisory Group to the Camarillo Heath Care District and a member of the group steering the conversion of Camarillo State Hospital into Cal State Channel Islands.

Pease is survived by his wife of 54 years, Zona; four children, Cheryl, Steve, Jenifer and Leslie; and four grandchildren.

Funeral Mass is scheduled at 10 a.m. today at Padre Serra Church in Camarillo. A graveside service with military honors is scheduled at 3 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Park, 570 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino.
