The Costa Mesa Senior Center raised $23,000 at its annual kickoff campaign Monday morning with nearly half the money coming from the Automobile Club of Southern California. Thomas McKernan, president and chief executive of the automobile club, presented a $10,000 donation to the center to launch the six-month fund-raising campaign. Other top donors included the Steele Foundation, which gave $5,000; Costa Mesa Senior Travel, $3,000; Lew and Rose Pribble, $1,001; and Surag Singh, $1,000. The center will mail letters to other businesses next week requesting donations.
