The City Council will meet tonight to continue deliberations on plans for a five-story building that would contain 183 apartments, 1,700 square feet of commercial space and an underground garage on 2 acres in the 100 block of East Whiting Avenue.
Council members opened a public hearing on the matter in October but wanted more information before voting. Neighboring property owners have cited concerns over the amount of noise, traffic and spillover parking the development might cause.
City staff members, in a report to the council, have recommended that the project be approved. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 303 W. Commonwealth Ave.
