Sega Dreamcast. With a string of great titles such as “Seaman,” “Samba de Amigo” and “NFL 2K1,” Dreamcast is the underdog video game system that may end up surprising wags who declared Sega dead. Earlier this year, sales of Dreamcast outpaced sales of Nintendo 64, meaning its base of users is growing faster than Nintendo’s. There’s a reason. As the only set-top console able to play online games with its built-in 56-kilobit-per-second modem, Dreamcast can do things no other system--not even Sony’s vaunted PlayStation 2--can. Plus, its innovative library of games appeals to a wide range of players--from sports fanatics to run-and-gun shooters. And then there’s the price: $150, or half what a PS2 costs.
