Cover Your Tracks

Paranoia may destroy ya, but it’s also smart practice when using a PC--especially one shared by several users. Most of the things you do on a PC leave tracks that show where you’ve been and what you’ve been doing. For instance, the history of your Web browser reveals the sites you’ve visited long after you’ve left. So checking out NaughtyNurses.com may leave you sleeping out on the couch if your better half decides to check up on you.

You can clear the history of your Web browser from time to time. But we prefer a handy, free Windows utility called Tweak UI, which allows you to tinker with all aspects of the Windows user interface. The relevant tab is appropriately called Paranoia and gives users the power to automatically clear their Internet Explorer histories when they log on.

Download Tweak UI at https://www.microsoft.com/ntworkstation/ downloads/PowerToys/Networking/NTTweakUI.asp and follow the simple instructions. Download and setup take less than five minutes.
