* Dr. John W. Walsh; Delivered Two of Jacqueline Onassis’ Children

Dr. John W. Walsh, 87, retired obstetrician who delivered two of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis’ babies and consoled her after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The late first lady became Walsh’s patient in 1957, and in November 1960, he delivered John F. Kennedy Jr. at Georgetown University Hospital. He also delivered the couple’s third child, Patrick, who was born prematurely in August 1963, and died two days later. After President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas in November 1963, Walsh was called upon to console Mrs. Kennedy during her return to Washington aboard Air Force One with the president’s body. Walsh had a private practice in obstetrics in Washington and Bethesda, Md., and was a clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Georgetown University Hospital. On Nov. 12 in Wailuku, Hawaii.
