Irvine Women Suffer Third Straight Loss

UC Irvine lost its third consecutive game at the Asahi Rainbow Wahine women’s basketball tournament, falling to Northern Illinois, 58-43, in the seventh-place game in Honolulu on Sunday.

Northern Illinois (2-3) never trailed and led by 20 points late in the game at 58-38. The Huskies were led by Kim Boeding with 15 points and Michelle Johnson (11 points and 11 rebounds). Jennifer Youngblood added nine points and 10 rebounds.

UC Irvine (1-3) got 10 points from Vincent Maree. Jana Ciperova and Brandy Hudson each scored eight. The Anteaters, who trailed, 27-17, at halftime, shot only 23% from the field and 62% from the free-throw line.
