1 Arrested, 2 Others Sought in Store Robbery

Sheriff’s deputies were searching late Monday night near the Ventura Freeway and Wendy Drive in Newbury Park for two men who robbed a Camarillo Trader Joe’s at gunpoint.

A third man, who was not immediately identified, was captured by deputies and taken into custody in Camarillo after a brief chase, authorities said.

According to Sheriff’s Capt. Rick Hindman, the robbery occurred at the grocery store about 9 p.m. in the 300 block of Carmen Drive in Camarillo. Moments after the heist, deputies began chasing three suspects as they drove on the freeway, Hindman said.

The driver stopped near Wendy Drive, and two of the men ran away. The third man drove off and returned to Camarillo, where deputies chased him down and arrested him.

Details about the robbery and the arrest were not available, but no injuries were reported. Hindman said several deputies were patrolling Newbury Park for the remaining suspects.
