UCLA Falls to San Diego
UCLA’s losing streak reached five at Pauley Pavilion and the way the Bruins are going, it could get a lot uglier.
San Diego (2-0) blew out the Bruins (0-5) early, running away to an 86-67 victory before 730.
Help is on the way for UCLA, but by the time new hands can mesh with Kathy Olivier’s club, the season could be lost.
Joining the Bruins shortly will be Kristee Porter, who is currently on the volleyball squad; Whitney Jones, a member of the soccer team; Nicole Kaczmarski, recovering from a foot injury, and LaCresha Flannigan, who is academically ineligible for the first quarter.
UCLA badly needs all four. The Bruins weren’t close to being competitive with San Diego, which at one point built a 29-point lead.
