Senior Center’s Revamp Cut Back

Share

The City Council has decided to scale down the planned renovation of the Orange Senior Citizen Community Center.

On Tuesday, the council rejected a dozen bids from construction companies after all the companies said the cost of the project would exceed the city’s $138,000 budget.

The city will continue with plans for renovations to the center’s bathrooms, kitchen and handicap-accessible ramps. The center is also scheduled to receive a new roof. Improvements planned for the outside of the building will be postponed to cut costs.

The city will redesign some of the planned improvements before putting the project out to bid.

Officials said they don’t know when work on the center will start.
