Cleanup and County Information Day Set

Share

Ventura County Supervisor John Flynn will host a neighborhood cleanup and information session for residents of El Rio, Strickland and Nyeland Acres on Saturday.

Residents are invited to bring large unwanted household objects, such as sofas or washing machines, and the supervisor’s office will dispose of them. There also will be an area to deposit used oil and latex paint.

In addition, representatives of many county agencies will be on hand to answer a wide range of questions.

“We’re bringing county government to the people,” Flynn said. “We want them to know that [a recent study] says homeowners in that area have not filed exemptions with the assessor that could save them up to 10% on their property tax. They should know that.”

The Job and Career Center staff will be on hand to assist those interested in finding employment. The Public Health Department will provide health care screenings and service to new mothers.

The Public Works Department will answer questions on a proposed sewer project for El Rio. Animal Control, Building and Safety and Fire Department representatives will also attend.

Flynn said the neighborhood event has been held every year since the areas became part of his district in 1992. McDonald’s and Pizza Hut will supply free food at the event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rio Plaza School.

Call Flynn’s office for more information at 487-6331.
