Families can learn how to care for cancer patients at home through a series of programs sponsored by UCLA’s Jonsson Cancer Center from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on five consecutive Thursdays. Free. Registration required. (310) 825-6134.

This Thursday, the series begins with “An Introduction to Caregiving: An Overview of Cancer and Treatment”; Oct. 19, “Symptom and Pain Management”; Oct. 26, “Nutrition and Fatigue”; Nov. 2, “Supportive Care in the Home”; Nov. 9, “Coping With Caregiving.”

EDUCATION

The Braille Institute offers six-week programs for people with fading vision, teaching them to perform daily tasks such as cooking, managing the home and learning how to use visual aids and receive talking books.
