Crepe myrtle trees instead of queen palms will be planted along Walker Street because the canopy created is more attractive, the City Council has decided.

City staff had proposed replacing the existing ficus trees along the street with the palms.

“We’re replacing the ficus trees because there has been a lot of damage to the sidewalk,” said La Palma spokeswoman Tami Piscotty. Information: (714) 690-3310.
