Petersen, Quinn Tied at Empire Lakes
Two players winding down entirely different seasons share the lead after Saturday’s third round of the Buy.com Tour’s Inland Empire Open at Empire Lakes Golf Course.
Scott Petersen, who is 155th on the money list, fired a seven-under-par 65 Saturday, earning him a pairing today with Fran Quinn (68). Both are at 17-under 199.
One shot behind Petersen and Quinn, who started the week 39th on the money list, is Eric Johnson (66). Tommy Biershenk (69) is three back and one in front of a quartet at 13 under, led by second-round leader Tripp Isenhour, who struggled to a 75.
Quinn won at Gainesville, Fla., earlier this year and already has a place in this week’s Buy.com Tour Championship. Petersen, who spent the last three years playing in Canada, has made only three cuts all season.
Petersen’s round featured birdies on four of the first six holes and only 26 putts.
