* Ballet Arizona presents its version of “The Nutcracker” at two venues: Dec. 1-3 at Tucson’s TCC Music Hall, 260 S. Church Ave., (602) 381-0184, and Dec. 14-27 at Phoenix Symphony Hall, 225 E. Adams St., (602) 381-1096. A half-hour prior to each performance, the ballet will host local personalities doing a “Nutcracker Story Telling” for kids.

* The 12th annual International Western Music Festival takes place Nov. 15-19 at the Tucson Convention Center’s North Exhibit Hall. The festival’s main event is the Western Music Assn.’s annual Hall of Fame celebration, “Living the Legacy,” on Nov. 16. * Two Patrick Nagatani photography exhibitions go on view Dec. 2 through Feb. 11 at Tucson’s Center for Creative Photography. “Nagatani/Tracey Collaboration, 1983-1989” features the only complete set of 40 collaborative works the photographer did with painter Andree Tracey commenting on global issues from nuclear threats to cross-cultural identities, while “Ryoichi/Nagatani Excavations” features new work documenting the automobile culture at disparate points in history as revealed through archeological excavations by Ryoichi’s team.
