Vandals Slash Tires on 26 Cars

Vandals slashed nearly 100 tires on cars parked up and down a cluster of residential streets in Huntington Beach, leaving the area awash with tow trucks and roadside service vehicles Saturday morning.

The tires on 26 vehicles parked in a one-mile stretch along Farnsworth Lane, Kingfisher Drive and Catamaran Lane were slashed or punctured, said Huntington Beach Police Lt. Tony Sollecito.

“People woke up and found their tires slashed, and their neighbors woke up and found their tires slashed, and their neighbors woke up and found their tires slashed,” Sollecito said. He said police were swamped with calls by 8 a.m.

Susie Bacon, who has lived on Catamaran Lane for 33 years, said crime was rare. The tires on her 1981 Oldsmobile Cutlass were slashed.
