Need2Buy in Westlake Village, an online marketplace for the electronic components industry, has acquired Unimate Electronics GmbH, a component trading and fulfillment company based in Munich, Germany.

This acquisition provides Need2Buy with the infrastructure, regional expertise and customer relationships to further drive the company’s expansion in Europe, company officials said.

Since its establishment in 1991, Unimate has developed a customer base of original equipment manufacturers, contract electronics manufacturers and distributors in the automotive, avionic, computer, industrial automation, medical and telecommunications industries.

“The acquisition of Unimate will enable us to deliver a global, comprehensive supply-chain solution and assist all participants in the European component market with their sourcing and distribution activities,” said Maury S. Friedman, Need2Buy’s chairman and chief executive.

Earlier this year, Need2Buy established its European headquarters in Munich and announced a joint venture with Mitsubishi Corp. to develop Need2Buy-Asia.
