As part of the federal government’s Local Law Enforcement Block Grants Program, the city will receive $35,961 to fight crime. City staff have decided to use the money to continue funding a report-transcription service and to purchase more computer equipment.

According to police, allowing officers to dictate reports for transcription will free them for additional patrol time. Police anticipate the time saved will equal the cost of an additional officer on the street.
