Golding said the city is “ready, able and financially capable” to sell the bonds necessary to resume the project once the city disposes of anti-ballpark lawsuits and the U.S. attorney decides whether to indict a city councilwoman for getting a stock tip from Padre owner John Moores.
With the city unable to sell up to $299 million in bonds to pay for its 70% share of the project, construction was halted three weeks ago.
