Bones Didn’t Belong to Alleged Cop Killer
Tests showed that bones found this week in southeast Utah do not belong to Jason Wayne McVean, the last of three fugitive survivalists suspected of killing a Colorado police officer in 1998. It was determined the bones weren’t human, San Juan County, Colo., Sheriff Mike Lacy said. Police said McVean, Robert Mason and Alan Pilon shot Officer Dale Claxton of Cortez. The bones were found near where Pilon’s skeleton was found last year. Mason’s body was discovered soon after Claxton was killed. Both had gunshot wounds to the head.
