Universal Electronics Names Arling CEO

Paul Arling has been named president and chief executive of Universal Electronics Inc. in Cypress. He had been president and chief operating officer. Arling joined the company in 1996 as senior vice president and chief financial officer and was appointed president and chief operating officer in 1998. Camille Jayne, who has served as chief executive officer more than two years, has been named executive chairman of the board. She joined Universal in February 1998 as president and chief operating officer. In August of that year, she was named chief executive and in December 1998 was elected chairman of the board. Universal supplies wireless universal-control devices, chips and software technologies.

* H.K. Desai has joined the board of directors of Lantronix Inc. in Irvine. He is chairman and chief executive of QLogic Corp.

* Lynda Orban has been appointed vice president in the public relations practice of Creative Works in Irvine. She was previously principal of Orban and Associates, a strategic marketing and public relations agency. Orban was also at Regis McKenna Inc. for four years. Jayme Williams was named account services coordinator. She was formerly a marketing analyst with Vipond Associates Insurance Services and a data collections associate at AC Nielson.

* Joe Caprino is the new president of retail and consumer products for realityBUY in Irvine. He had been vice president of sales and new business development for Bush Industries Inc., a furniture manufacturer.

* Brian J. Myers has joined Griffin Realty Corp. in Laguna Beach as a partner and president. He is also president of Griffin Advisors. Myers was formerly founding partner of the Spectrum Group, an Irvine real estate consulting and management company.

* Andrew C. Ross has been elected to the board of directors of the JEDEC Solid State Technology Assn. Ross has been director of technology for Garden Grove-based Dense-Pac Microsystems Inc. since 1997.
