Stanton’s lone movie theater closed about two weeks ago, shortly before the announcement by Edwards Theater Circuits Inc. that it was seeking bankruptcy protection.
The six-screen movie house will be missed, said Mayor Al Ethans.
The vacancy in Stanton Village Center could hurt businesses that relied on moviegoers’ visits to the strip mall on Beach Boulevard. The city’s staff is looking into possibilities for filling the space, said Ethans.
