Temporary Workers

Re “Labor Relations Board Rules for Temporary Workers,” Aug. 31: It is no surprise to me that employers hate the ruling or that the rules are changing. While employers hire temporary workers to save costs, many employers have taken advantage of temporary workers. Temporary is defined as “for a time only.” This time is usually of short duration.
However, there are stories of assignments lasting one to two years. These are not temporary jobs, and while temporary agencies can offer temporary workers benefits after X number of hours, temporary workers still face the short end of the stick.
