CBS-Microsoft Pact

Viacom Inc.’s CBS Television said it entered a pact with Microsoft Corp.’s enhanced TV services unit WebTV Networks Inc. to deliver interactive television programming. Subscribers to Microsoft’s WebTV Plus or UltimateTV would be able to access enhanced content, such as sports statistics, while watching CBS programs, as well as interact with programs and other viewers. The programming will debut with the start of the 2000-2001 season, the companies said. Shares of Microsoft closed up 63 cents at $70.06 on Nasdaq, and Viacom’s actively traded Class B shares fell $1.31 to $63.81 on the NYSE.
