* Gordon H. Cunningham; Retired Road Worker

Gordon Henry Cunningham, who retired from the county road and maintenance department, died Sunday at his Oak View home. He was 60.

He was born Feb. 20, 1940, in St. Croix, Ill., to George and Gladys Cunningham. The family moved to Live Oak Acres in Ventura County when Cunningham was a young boy and he grew up there. He joined the Army during the Berlin Airlift. When he returned home, he settled in Oak View.

Cunningham worked for the Ventura County Road Maintenance Department for 32 years before retiring in 1995.

He was a member of the Ojai Valley Boat Club, Back Street Rods, the American Legion, Moose Lodge, and several motorcycle and classic car clubs.

He enjoyed cross-country motorcycle and dune buggy trips with his wife, Sharon. The couple also enjoyed restoring and showing their classic cars.

In addition to his wife, Cunningham is survived by a son, Larry Williams of Oxnard; a daughter, Tammi Huddleson of Chico, Calif.; his father, George Cunningham of Arizona; stepchildren Pat Marshall, Mike Marshall and Sandra Hansen, all of Ojai; brothers Gary of Iowa and George of Arizona; three grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren.

Graveside services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura. Immediately after the service, a celebration of Cunningham’s life will be held at the American Legion post at 821 E. Ojai Ave, Ojai.

Donations in his memory may be made to Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Assn. or the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.
