Broadcom Completes Its Purchase of Altima

Broadcom Corp. said Friday it has completed its acquisition of closely held Altima Communications Inc., a San Jose manufacturer of networking products for switches, routers and Internet appliances. Broadcom said it issued more than 2.5 million shares in a stock swap valued at about $581.4 million. The acquisition gives the Irvine chip maker greater access to small- and medium-size businesses.
