Carnegie Museum Names Winning Artists

* Carnegie Art Museum announced the winners of its annual “A Classic Competition,” a juried exhibition featuring all media. More than 145 artists submitted entries and 58 of those artworks were selected to be displayed in the exhibit.

The winners:

Three-dimensional art: first place, Gerri Johnson-McMillian of Port Hueneme for the sculpture “Women;” second-place tie, Russell McMillin of Ventura for the sculpture “Duality Consciousness” and Pamela Huth of Westlake Village for the sculpture “Forge Ahead.”

Photographs and prints: first place, William Hendricks of Ventura for the photograph “Children at War No. 1;” second place, Mel Menkin of Simi Valley for the photograph “Ko-Yaa-Nis--Qatsi: The World Out of Balance;” third place, Sherron Sheppard of Ventura for the photograph “A Place In Time.”

Two-dimensional art: first place, Bobbie Moline-Kramer of Woodland Hills for the painting “In the Mind’s Eye, I, Me, Mine;” second place, Ginger Moore Maxwell of Oak View for the painting “Heirloom;” third place, Sidney Rowe of Oregon for the painting “Sidus-Natalicum II.”

Judges’ Choice Award: Carol Simson of Ventura for the watercolor “Patio Series II.”

Director’s Choice Award: Deloris Pederson of Camarillo for the painting “Sunset at the Beach.”
