Bush’s Drug Plan
* Who does George Bush think he’s fooling with his sudden flip-flop on prescription drugs (“Bush Offers Plan on Health Care,” Sept. 6)? Neither he nor the Republican majority in Congress for the past eight years has shown any interest in improving health care for average Americans. That would mean more taxes and more government employees--both anathema to the GOP. So why now?
Isn’t this last-minute folly a transparent and pathetic attempt on Bush’s part to pander to voters? Americans who want better health care would do well to stick with Al Gore.

How can a Republican be advocating a massive health care program for seniors? Sounds like he’s selling out his principles for votes. I’m disappointed.

Despite all the horror stories associated with HMOs, Bush now proposes inflicting us with DMOs (drug maintenance organizations).
