Democratic nominee Al Gore’s son will not be tried on speeding and reckless driving charges until after the Nov. 7 presidential election.

The trial for Albert Gore III, 17, was delayed until Nov. 22 at the request of his attorney, William Brumsey III. It had been scheduled to begin Wednesday.

Brumsey said the timing of the vice president’s bid for the presidency was not a factor in the delay.

Cathy Brothers, Currituck County deputy court clerk, said it is routine for traffic cases to be postponed one time and requires only the agreement of the prosecutor.
