Ebell Eclipses Own Mark With 349 Yards in Win

Tyler Ebell broke the Ventura High single-game rushing record for the second consecutive week, gaining 349 yards and scoring five touchdowns to lead the Cougars to a 42-12 nonleague victory over Moorpark on Friday night at Ventura.

Ebell, a senior, had 25 carries, including scoring runs of 80, 11, 40, 53 and eight yards, as Ventura (2-0) took a 34-12 halftime lead.

Ebell rushed for 330 yards last week against Simi Valley.

Ebell also became the Cougars’ career leader in yards, touchdowns and points.

Moorpark (0-2) took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Matt Broussard to Charlie Brown. Broussard had 11 completions in 20 attempts for 128 yards. He also had a five-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

Joaquin Real of Ventura ran 14 yards for a touchdwon in the fourth quarter.
