Student Volunteers Can Apply for Award
Ventura County students who volunteer in their communities are invited to apply for the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards.
The awards honor students in grades five through 12 who have helped improve their communities by volunteering. Application forms are available through middle and high schools, Girl Scout councils and county 4-H offices. Deadline for applications is Oct. 31.
Next spring, the Prudential Insurance Co. of America will select 10 students as top volunteers of the year. Those students will receive $5,000, a gold medallion and a trophy, and will have $250,000 in children’s products donated in their names to needy children in their communities.
They will be selected from among two top students from each state, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico.
The contest was started in 1995 to recognize middle and high school students who have demonstrated exemplary community service.
