SAN PEDRO — Police are searching for the killers of a 16-year-old boy who was found in a car riddled with bullets around 6 p.m. Monday.
Christopher Ritchie died at San Pedro Peninsula Hospital Tuesday, said Los Angeles Police Det. Sam Snyder.
Ritchie was one of three people in a car that was stopped in the 1000 block of South Centre Street Monday evening when, according to police, assailants shot numerous rounds at the car.
Ritchie and a man were both hit and taken to the hospital by the car’s driver. The second victim was released from the hospital Wednesday, police said.
Snyder said detectives believe the motive for the shooting was gang-related but said Ritchie was not in a gang, though police believe the second victim was. No suspects have been arrested.
Anyone with information about the shooting should call the LAPD at (310) 548-7621.
