Cox/Sprint PCS, which wants to install telecommunication panel antennas on St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, recently agreed to host an educational meeting with nearby residents before the City Council votes on the issue.
The wall-mounted panels, which Cox/Sprint PCS says it needs to improve wireless telecommunication in the area, were up for consideration at the council’s Tuesday meeting. The council continued the item until Dec. 12 at the church’s request.
“There was a lot of misinformation about the project,” said John Bitterly, a spokesman for the project. “In the interest of community harmony, we decided we could have a public workshop.”
After the Planning Commission approved the project in July, Kay Ross, who lives near the church, appealed it to the council, citing aesthetics and health concerns.
