* J.C. Penney Co. hired a former grocery company executive to lead its Eckerd drugstore chain. Wayne Harris, 60, was chief executive of Grand Union Co. until February, when he was forced out amid mounting losses at the supermarket operator. Eckerd has been without a permanent chief executive since March, when Frank Newman left to join an Internet retailer.
