Homestore.com Buys Senior Living Web Site

Share

Homestore.com Inc. in Thousand Oaks, which operates a network of Internet real estate-related sites, has acquired the Senior Alternatives for Living Web site, an online senior housing directory.

The acquisition provides access to information that will be used in Homestore.com’s new senior living area, which is being developed with the National Assn. of Home Builders’ Council on Seniors Housing. Announced in June, the senior living area will serve prospective home buyers who are over 55, providing them with a directory of housing and care alternatives.

Viewers may continue to visit https://www.senioralternatives.com until it becomes part of the senior living area on Homestore.com’s Web site later this year, company officials said.

The client base for the Senior Alternatives for Living site includes Marriott Senior Living Services, Sunrise Assisted Living, the Fountains, Aegis Assisted Living, ManorHouse Retirement Communities, National Guest Homes, Regent Assisted Living and ACTS Senior communities.

Homestore.com’s family of Web sites includes https://www.Homestore.com, https://www.Realtor.com, https://www.HomeBuilder.com, https://www.SpringStreet.com, https://www.Remodel.com and https://www.HomeFair.com.

Also, Homestore.com announced last week it was joining with five moving companies--Allied, Bekins, Mayflower, North American and United--to develop a Web site to help customers shop for and buy moving services.

Called https://www.iMove.com, the site is intended to be a one-stop source for moving information, Homestore.com officials said.
