2 Anti-Fur Activists Arrested at Store
Two of four anti-fur activists arrested for a protest at the Bloomingdale’s department store in Sherman Oaks Fashion Square remained in jail Monday awaiting charges, police said.
Two 17-year-olds were released to their parents after their arrest Sunday. Two adults were being held on $10,000 bail, said Lt. Willie Guerrero of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Van Nuys Division.
Police identified the two adult activists as Michelle Dyrness, 31, of Thousand Oaks and Elizabeth Gorda, 19, of Calabasas.
The protesters entered the store at 2 p.m. and locked themselves together with bicycle U-locks to protest the sale of fur, Guerrero said.
A police unit cut the locks as the protesters shouted slogans and showed graphic pictures of animals allegedly being skinned for fur garments, Guerrero said. Other protesters outside the store dispersed when police arrived.
