Tolerance in Schools Is Topic of Seminar
Parents, teachers and administrators are invited to a seminar on how to resolve cultural conflicts in public schools.
The presentation is sponsored by the Common Ground Project, which helps build respect and cooperation among parents and educators.
The project is a joint effort of the First Amendment Center, BridgeBuilders and the Ventura County superintendent of schools office.
“Disarming Controversy Through Common Ground Thinking” will take place Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Cowan Conference Center, 550 Airport Way. The event is free and open to the public.
The project will also offer a complete training session the following day from 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the center. The training session costs $37, and registration is required.
Wayne Jacobsen, a nationally recognized specialist in resolving cultural conflicts, will speak both days. Jacobsen will be joined Oct. 5 by Marcia Beauchamp, coordinator for the religious freedom programs at the First Amendment Center.
