Germany Shuts Out Brazil for Bronze

Germany won the bronze medal in women’s soccer, defeating Brazil, 2-0, on second-half goals by Renate Lingor and Birgit Prinz at the Sydney Football Stadium on Thursday.
“We’ve invested a great deal of time in putting this team together and making it into a world-class team,” said German Coach Tine Theune-Meyer, who coached the Germans to the quarterfinals of the Women’s World Cup last summer in the U.S.
“After the game against Norway [a 1-0 semifinal loss] we were very disappointed. We were rather unlucky in that game. Today, the disappointment is gone and we are happy to have won the bronze.”
