Alan Hale Sr., who played Little John in “The Adventures of Robin Hood” in 1938 and appeared in nearly 300 other film roles, and his wife, silent-film actress Gretchen Hale (also known as Greta Hartman), bought this house in 1935, seven years after it was built in the Hollywood Hills.
Since then, the house has remained in the Hale family and was the home of the late Alan Hale Jr., best known as the skipper in the ‘60s TV series “Gilligan’s Island,” and his sister, Karen Hale Wookey, a longtime script supervisor in Hollywood.
